Funny in a painful way

Now most people know that I have a wild talent for injuring myself on broad/blunt/simple things. Well I managed to really wound myself yesterday with something that I figured was unimaginable. This actually tops my lemon burn. Yesterday I was pulling apart a cabbage leaf by leaf and low and behold I managed to wound myself under my thumb to the point of bleeding.

Does this make it a new high or low for me?

You injured yourself on a cabbage leaf.

That's definitely a new low, and not one I intend to let you live down! :P

I'm still not sure if that beats burning yourself on a lemon.

You can at least say lemons have acid in them. But a cabbage? Does there exist a more unexciting, nonthreatening vegetable?

Turnips?

Yes, but turnips are fairly large and dense. It's not too hard to imagine someone causing blunt force trauma with one of those. Cabbages aren't so heavy, and (unlike turnips) they're leafy. Therefore, cabbages are less dense and are softer and "fluffier" than turnips.

To put it another way, if you threw a cabbage at someone, I'd expect him to say, "Hey, what are you trying to do?", whereas if you threw a turnip at someone, I wouldn't be surprised if he said, "Ouch!"
